a) RO (Reverse osmosis)
            

It is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions, unwanted molecules and larger particles from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property, that is driven by chemical potential differences of the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of dissolved and suspended chemical species as well as biological ones (principally bacteria) from water, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of potable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as solvent molecules, i.e., water, H2O) to pass freely.

c) UF (Ultra Filter)
               




UF is a membrane similar to RO membranes but with bigger pores. UF cannot remove dissolved salts from water. The big advantage of UF water purifier is that it will work without electricity and completely remove all microorganisms from water including the smallest of viruses. 


So a UF water purifier is the ideal water purifier for tap water in big cities, where you can be sure that you will always get good tap water without chemical contamination. d)TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)







            







If you research online before
buying an RO water purifier, one term you will frequently encounter is TDS. It
stands for Total Dissolved Solids. TDS levels in water sample determine whether
the water is Hard or Soft. High levels of TDS mean that the water is Hard &
low means that the water is Soft.







RO (Reverse osmosis) process is
done by TDS Controller. How it works? The water that enters the RO purifier is
divided into 2 parts. The water in Part 1 goes to Ro purification process which
reduces the TDS and removes all inorganic impurities from it. The water in Part
2 goes through UF+UV filtration (depending on the specifications of the unit).
While this water is purified, it does not lose the TDS count.







These 2 are then combined to
form the output water. The TDS controller is paired with UV or UF filtration to
ensure that the mixture is filtered to provide over 99.7% protection from water
pollutants.
